Halloween.
This time last year, I walked around downtown and saw two dudes dressed as Lingle and Aiona on the corner of Bishop and South King. They were holding campaign signs and waving at traffic. The one dressed as Lingle looked more convincing than the one dressed as Aiona, but that’s another story.
Hoping to see more of the same this year, I walked around downtown on my lunch break, but things were rained out today and I guess everybody stayed in.
My commute home also took longer today. The usual half hour ride home became an hour-long trudge through puddles and traffic. Over several King Street traffic lights, I made smalltalk with a guy on a cruiser who was also heading home and not-loving the rain. I guess common afflictions can sometimes build camaraderie just as well as common interests. Don’t get me wrong; I don’t mind the cruiser guys. Hell, I’ve owned a few cruisers myself.
I wasn’t too wet when I got home today. I was lucky - the rain could have been a lot worse. I think I’m going to just pick up that bus pass tomorrow during my lunch break.
Tonight, I got a text message from Mark about some special Halo 3 thing that was for tonight-only.
Apparently, in celebration of Halloween, Bungie made a special Halloween play list running Infection all night long. I spent about an hour or so shooting zombies and eating brains. And you know what? I had fun.
I probably had more fun than I would have if I’d gone out. Halloween’s not just rained out; it’s also overrated. Or maybe I’m officially old.
