We spent all weekend playing Saint’s Row 2.

We really didn’t do much this past weekend. Kerri’s been feeling under the weather, so we took it easy instead of going out. We pretty much spent all weekend playing Saint’s Row 2. Hey, I’m not complaining, man. Co-op mode on that game is the best thing ever - we even ended up carrying the TV from the bedroom out to the living room and vegged out half of Saturday and almost all of Sunday.

That game rules. I don’t know how the hell GTA got so much publicity; hell, I thought Saint’s Row 1 was better than GTA 4.

L&L in Las Vegas

We checked out the L&L on Maryland Pkwy this past weekend because we were craving a loco moco. The ones here taste pretty much the same as they do back home. They have that same tasting gravy, which I wasn’t too fond of when I was still back in Hawaii, but loved it this past weekend.

You know what, it acutally tasted a little better than the ones I used to get at the L&L at Kahala Mall because there wasn’t a slacker FOB high school kid in charge of the kitchen here (kids who consistently mess up your all-rice order. Consistently)

Speaking of which - I was behind this lady in line to order, and instead of all rice, she orders TWO mac salad’s and ONE rice with her food. Woah, what?! Hahah there were also some people there that asked what a loco moco was.

Anyway, they also have ahi poke there. I was too curious to I ordered some. It was $3 for a “small” order and $8 for a 1/2-pound. Yep, that’s $16 per pound.

OR IS IT?! Because man, here’s what it looked like:

ahi poke from L&L in Las Vegas
..Dude I think they may have counted the cabbage as part of the half pound. Also, notice there’s no limu in there. I want to go home now.

Furniture Part II

…And after:

Furniture!

The delivery guys came a while ago. Delivery was free from www.lvfurnituredirect.com, and seemed pretty reasonably priced, too. Since we bought so much stuff from them, assembly for the tables was also free.

With the new additions, the living room looks a lot smaller now, but more importantly, there’s something to do there now.

The TV should come in another few days.

Furniture

We’re getting our furniture. We ordered a bunch of stuff for the living room earlier this week and I just got a call that they’d be here in an hour or two.

This’ll be nice, because we’ve either been eating dinner in the bedroom or while standing up in the kitchen. It’ll be nice to be able to use the living room.

Until those guys come, Kerri’s playing Saint’s Row 2 and I’m just wasting time on the internetz.

Here’s a before picture:

Living room before furniture

Stay tuned.

Another weekend.

I just stayed home this past week while Kerri was at work. I’m almost done with Far Cry 2 and had to throw the jack o’ lantern out this afternoon because it was starting to grow mold (the white fuzzy kind).

We also ordered furniture this week and it should be coming in tomorrow. NICE!

…And here’s another one (that pretty much everyone has already seen already but here it is anyway just in case)

First weekend back.

My first weekend back was spent with Kerri getting me up to speed on where things were kept around the house, then some shopping. This past weekend, we also set our clocks back an hour for daylight savings time or whatever.

We went shopping around ‘Chinatown’. I feel weird calling it Chinatown, when I think about it and compare it to the one we’ve got back home. Here, it’s just a regular road with Asian themed storefronts. In Vegas, it didn’t seem very genuine at first, but when we walked into one of the supermarkets, it had that same familiar smell. Yep, we were in Chinatown.

There, for the first time in ‘America’, Kerri found a 20-lb. bag of rice, and rice that wasn’t hispanic or jasmine. It was regular Hinode rice, and the bag was only $12. Garlic is a lot cheaper there than in the other supermarkets, too. Even better, I found the same brand of Shandong noodles that my mom buys in Chinatown back home, and for pretty much the same price. It’s all here! (except Aloha shoyu).

pumpkin! We pretty much stayed in allweekend. On Sunday night, we carved that pumpkin that Kerri picked up while I was gone. Here’s our creation:

Too bad we’re a little late for Halloween. It was still good times, though. It’s been years since I’ve carved a pumpkin; the last one was back in Architecture school when it was a ‘required’ esquisse. I guess carving a pumpkin may have been one of the few things I learned in Architecture school. That, and building sandcastles.

Anyway, it’s Monday afternoon now. Kerri’s at work and I’m sitting around the house waiting for some guy who’s supposed to come and fix our garage door.  It’s going to be a pretty cruise day - for me, anyway. Kerri’s going to be stuck at work until late tonight helping run a job fair. I guess dinner’s up to me tonight … or up to that Chinese restaurant who’s menu we have up on the fridge. They deliver!

Back in Vegas

So I’m back in Vegas. It’s about 10:09am here. Kerri’s still sleeping. I actually woke up around 7 (4am in Hawaii), so I guess I’ve got some sort of weird reverse-jetlag

24 hours ago, I was back in Hawaii, still asleep. Eventually, I woke up, finished packing, and Evan helped me take 3 boxes of clothes and other random junk that to the UPS store to ship everything over.

My flight was at 3pm, and I got to the airport at 1. I was through security about 20 minutes later. With about two hours to kill, I wandered around the airport, and bought this book by Michael Crichton called Prey. The rest of the time, I listened to Dirty Thunder’s recorded sessions while waiting for the plane.

I ended up not-sleeping and read all 502 pages of the book on the flight over. It wasn’t that the book was that awesome (it actually made me wonder what’s up with Michael Crichton - I thought Disclosure, Rising Sun, and those Jurassic Park books were so awesome - or was I just more easily impressed back in high school?); I think I just realized how much I missed reading - like, physically holding a book in my hands and reading.

After the last page, I had 23 minutes to spare (according to the in-flight screen). I spent the last part of the trip, again, listening to music by Dirty Thunder and ChannelFore.

It’s good to be with Kerri again. At bag claim, she ran up behind me and held me for nearly a minute before letting me turn around to say hi to her. The past five weeks must have been tough for her, I give her credit.

It was Halloween, but it was also midnight, so we just ended up staying home. I unpacked my suitcase - I brought over a bag of chopsticks and Aloha Shoyu that Kerri’s mom asked me to send up (Kerri’s only been able to find Kikkoman up here, and has been eating saimin with a fork). Also packed in my suitcase was my 360. Yep, I took a chance with trusting TSA, but I had to take care of what’s important.

Anyway, not sure what’s in store for this weekend. Kerri bought a pumpkin (belated Halloween). Maybe we’ll try carving it today or tomorrow…

Kerri’s still asleep. I think I’m going to make myself useful and fix up some breakfast.
