Crab for dinner!

Mom and my Aunt are still in town. While they’ve been here, we’ve mostly eaten at home (along with the buffets around town, of course).

Yesterday, we stopped at 99 Ranch and picked up some crab. My Aunt showed me how to kill and clean them. Good times!

It was good stuff, and according to my mom, crab is cheaper here than in Hawaii (and more available than in Malaysia), which I thought was a little weird since we’re in the middle of the desert. It was about $3.99 a pound here. Our entire dinner fed four of us and all the ingredients cost a little under $15 bucks. Good times.

Anyway I’m going to take them shopping again. Mom wants to buy a turkey and cook it for us this weekend. Woohoo!

Mom’s here!

For the first time since we moved out here, Mom’s come down to visit. She came down about a week ago with my aunt, who came from Malaysia. They came about a week ago, which is why I haven’t really been posting (that and I’m lazy). Mom doesn’t really gamble, but I’ve been teaching her anyway. She won a few bucks here and there at the Palms and Red Rock the other day.

Other than that, I’ve just been showing them around more ‘normal’ places like the library and the grocery stores. She and my aunt are amazed at how cheap produce is here (compared to how much this stuff costs in Hawaii and Malaysia), and they go nuts every time we walk into a supermarket.

We just came back from the Korean Supermarket that just opened up on Spring Mountain near Target, actually. And bought enough stuff to get a free box of Korean grapes (which taste different, but they’re still good). Our kitchen counter is usually bare, but it looks like a cornucopia right now. I’ll take a picture later.

In other news, Borderlands r0×0rz!!!

Here’s the picture!

Black Taco!

I had to try one because of those stupid commercials on TV.

It wasn’t too bad, but just tasted like a regular taco, but with a different kind of cheese inside. The black shell seems thicker, but not that different/special.

I also thought the commercial said it was only 59 cents or something, but it was listed on the 89-cent menu when I bought it tonight. Oh well, at least now I know!

Holy crap it’s been nearly a month since I posted.

Sorry for the absence, everyone (that is, everyone who isn’t on facebook to otherwise stalk me). I actually got sick earlier this week and haven’t been going online as much. I’ll be back when I get better…

…Ironic, that the last entry on the blog was about the huge temperature drop we had a few weeks ago. Cause that drop played a huge factor in me getting sick!
