Back from San Diego.

San Diego = what you get when you drop your waffle on the beach.

It was a five hour drive, but a great trip. I got back a few days ago, but have been in recovery ever since. In fact, the only reason I’m really writing about this now it because I’m still feeling faded from dollar bowling/dollar drinks over at South Point earlier this morning. And since I’m halfway gone, you can only expect a half-assed report of my hotmess weekend!

In San Diego, I:

- realized what a beautiful city that place is.
- saw a hummingbird while walking around Little Italy
- learned that if you dance by yourself in the middle of an empty dance floor, the staff will decide that you’re too drunk and escort you out of the venue, while your friends are all still inside, wondering what the hell happened to you (that was fun)
- learned that a good percentage of those rickshaw taxi bicyclists are from Brazil (I rode one!)
- ate nothing but hash browns the entire trip. God damn I was so happy to eat rice again when I got home.

All in all it was an awesome trip, and I met some awesome people. Thanks, guys!

And now, some pictures (thanks for the photos, Kim and Caryn):

Me and Caryn before all the madness happened (ie: we were still sober)

We’re all completely hung over here, but this was the morning after, over at the House of Blues for breakfast.

I don’t even remember this picture … but Happy Birthday, Kim!

Again, Happy Birthday, Kim! It was awesome… and a true testament to you that I drove down from Vegas, Caryn flew from Alabama, and Kristina came from Washington, all for you!

Wtf new “ride” at the Stratosphere

Holy crap I just woke up and was watching local news, and there’s a new “ride” at the Stratosphere now, where you just jump off a shitty looking ledge at the top of the tower.

When the local reporter was doing it, I thought it was going to be a bungie jump, but it’s actually a controlled freefall (at about 40mph) and takes about 35 seconds before you get to the bottom about 800 feet below.

There’s a video at the Stratosphere’s website. The ride costs $115 bucks. I’m not sure if it’s worth it, but then again you’re more likely to wet your pants doing this than by buying five songs at Sapphire. Just saying.

Impromptu trip to California (again).

I was hanging out with Kerri on Saturday and she’s like “What do you want to do?” and I’m like “Dude let’s go to LA!”

Completely spur of the moment. Kerry went online and booked a room, I filled up my gas tank, and we headed down. Then about five hours later, we were eating at Santouka Ramen and snacking on Hello Panda’s during the drive over to the Getty.

We also walked around Santa Monica, which I only found out about a week ago when Annie was nice enough to show it to me. (I know very little about California).

And of course, before we came back on Sunday afternoon, we made sure we ate at the Boiling Crab again. There were some monster crawfish in our bag and a whole lotta garlic, which made for a pretty pleasant car ride back to Vegas.

I put a little over 600 miles on the car in a 24 hour period. And then there’s San Diego in two weeks. It’s been less than two months since I got the oil changed in my car, but I’ll probably have to take it in again by the end of April. Good times.

PWN3D story of the day

I was playing Battlefield and this dude rolls up in a tank and I’m like “holy crap I’m going to die!” so I’m running around trying to dodge shells. Then his tank gets damaged so he jumps out to do repairs. While this is happening, I run right up to the now empty tank and reverse it over him and one of his boyfriends and kill them both. AWW YEAH PWN3D!! USA! USA! USA!

Back from California.

I got back to Vegas yesterday afternoon. Pretty eventful past few days … I’m still trying to process everything, but off the top of my head, I:

- Slept all by myself in a scary ghost house
- Spent two nights near LA in two different homes
- Used an automatic toilet (the kind from Japan)
- Sat through a real California earthquake
- Spent a day with a black girl who taught me about ethnic hair products
- Wandered around the MOCA and Donwtown LA by myself
- Ate ramen three days in a row. Awww yeah.

Mission accomplished on that last one. I’m glad to be home now though.

I’m still processing everything that happened and I’ll try to post more later.
